Overview

At a modern peat production facility in Latvia, an automated material packaging line was successfully established to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. The project was assigned to SketchArt Engineering, whose role covered the design and implementation of a fully integrated handling and packaging system, ensuring precision, reliability, and compliance with industrial quality standards.

The scope of the project included the development of belt conveyors, roller conveyors, roller turntables, and tipping dumpers. These components were designed to work together as a seamless system for transporting and preparing peat packages, minimizing manual handling and maximizing consistency in operations. Special focus was placed on creating a packaging solution that not only improved workflow efficiency but also reduced operational downtime.

The new packaging line was engineered to transport peat packs from two independent packing machines into an automated palletizing system. To guarantee product quality, each conveyor was equipped with integrated weighing scales to monitor the weight of individual packages. This eliminated the risk of defective or underweight products entering the supply chain. In addition, the line was fitted with a 90° rotation unit that aligned each package according to standardized pallet stacking requirements, ensuring structural stability during transport and storage.

Efficiency was further enhanced through the inclusion of an automated pallet transfer system. Using a roller conveyor combined with a turntable, pallets could be rotated and aligned automatically, enabling continuous movement through the production cycle. This automation significantly reduced manual labour, improved process reliability, and supported higher throughput while maintaining uniform pallet loads.
