Overview

At a major port facility in Norway, one of the stackers encountered recurring problems with its scraper conveyor feeding system. These issues disrupted operations, reduced efficiency, and created maintenance challenges. To resolve the situation, SketchArt Engineering was commissioned to deliver a complete redesign of the feeding line that would eliminate these bottlenecks and integrate seamlessly with the existing infrastructure.

The project began with a detailed 3D scan of the stacker line. This digital survey provided highly accurate data about the existing frame structure and conveyor alignment, ensuring that the new system could be designed with maximum precision. Based on this data, our engineers developed a modern belt feeder equipped with a hopper, optimized to deliver a smooth, consistent flow of material. The new design was carefully tailored to the client’s existing framework, minimizing downtime during installation and avoiding costly structural replacements.

Beyond solving operational inefficiencies, the project was designed with a strong focus on cost-effectiveness and sustainability. By reusing much of the existing construction and integrating it with new, resource-conscious components, the solution reduced material waste and overall investment costs for the client. At the same time, the new belt feeder increased throughput capacity, reduced wear and tear on mechanical components, and lowered long-term maintenance requirements.

This case highlights SketchArt Engineering’s ability to combine innovative engineering with practical, cost-conscious design. The upgraded stacker system not only resolved the client’s technical challenges but also delivered measurable improvements in performance, energy efficiency, and operational reliability. By integrating advanced 3D scanning technology with smart redesign principles, we provided the client with a durable, future-ready system that supports efficient port operations.
