Overview

Following a critical incident caused by the explosion of limestone dust in the screening house, the renewal of the screening line equipment became an urgent priority for the mining facility in Norway. To restore safe and efficient operations, SketchArt Engineering was commissioned to deliver a comprehensive redesign and rebuild of the entire system, ensuring both improved performance and full compliance with modern safety regulations.

The project scope included the design and integration of belt conveyors, screening equipment, station supports, material chutes, and custom service platforms, each tailored to the operational layout of the plant. Access stairs and platforms were introduced to simplify maintenance and improve worker accessibility, minimizing downtime during inspections and repairs. The key objective was not only to rebuild the damaged facility but to create a more efficient and sustainable screening line that would support long-term production needs.

To ensure reliability, a detailed engineering review was conducted, incorporating advanced material specifications and design practices. Special emphasis was placed on fire safety: fire-resistant materials and protective enclosures were integrated into the design to reduce risks associated with limestone dust explosions. These upgrades align with international safety standards and reflect a strong commitment to accident prevention and long-term operational resilience.

Additionally, the project introduced optimized conveyor layouts and chutes designed to minimize material spillage and wear, extending equipment life while reducing maintenance costs. This focus on efficiency, combined with rigorous safety engineering, resulted in a modernized screening facility that meets today’s mining industry requirements.
